The coins are round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coins’ edge is grained.

Obverse

on the gold coin with the denomination of 50 BYR, silver and copper–nickel coins: at the top – the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; in the center – the stylized image of a sword with a shape reminding a man: on the gold coin – against the cracked earth; on the silver and copper–nickel coins – against the background of a chain armor; circumferential inscriptions: at the top – РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), at the bottom – the denomination: 50 РУБЛЁЎ (FIFTY RUBLES) on the gold coin, 20 РУБЛЁЎ (TWENTY RUBLES) on the silver coin, and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (ONE RUBLE) on the copper–nickel one, the alloy standard (on the gold and silver coins), and the year of issue. On the obverse of the gold coin with the denomination of 20 BYR: at the top – the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; in the center – the image of two gothic swords framed by a garland made of oak leaves; circumferential inscriptions: at the top – РЭСПУБЛIКА–БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), at the bottom – the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (TWENTY RUBLES), the year of issue, and the alloy standard.

Reverse

a stylized seal in the form of an imprint of the thumb with the inscription depicted within its structure: ГРУНВАЛЬДСКАЯ БІТВА (THE BATTLE OF GRUNWALD) and the date of the battle – 15.07.1410. On the reverse of the gold coin with the denomination of 20 BYR are shown: in the center – the image of a bowl topped with a garland made of oak leaves as a receptacle for the sufferings from the bygone war and ten crosswise located pyramidal knobs as a memory of the victims died in the Great War; circumferential inscriptions: at the top – ГРУНВАЛЬДСКАЯ БІТВА (THE BATTLE OF GRUNWALD), at the bottom – 600 ГОД (600 YEARS).
