The coins are round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coins’ edge is grained.

Obverse: at the top – the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus and a circumferential inscription: РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); in the center – the image of a family tree as a symbol of Mother and procreation, beneath – a decorative composition with the symbols of family and the Sun included in it; on the left – the year of issue: 2011 (and the alloy standard on the silver coin), on the right – the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE) on the copper–nickel one.

Reverse: in the center – the image of a baby with a bird and his Mother holding him in her arms, the bird symbolizing happiness and a child’s good fortune); at the top – the face of the Mother looking down on her baby, on the right – an ornamental pattern with a symbol of children contained therein; at the bottom – a circumferential inscription: МАЦЯРЫНСТВА (MOTHERHOOD).
