The coins are round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coins’ edge is grained.

Obverse

in the center — the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus within a circular geometric pattern, and circumferential inscriptions: at the top – РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), at the bottom — the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on silver coins and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE) on copper-nickel coins; within the external circle – stylized images of people, birds, horsemen, houses, symbolizing wealth and prosperity; at the bottom on the right-hand side – the year of issue, on the left-hand side – the alloy standard (on silver coins);

Reverse

in the center — a rhombus framed by ornamental pattern, within which the emblem of Eurasian Economic Union and the circumferential inscription: ЕЎРАЗІЙСКІ ЭКАНАМІЧНЫ САЮЗ (EURASIAN ECONOMIC UNION) are depicted; around the rhombus – a stylized image of people holding hands, houses and birds, symbolizing the common home and unity of the nations. Stylized images are made using a laser engraving method.
