The coins are round in shape with the raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coins’ edge is grained.

Obverse

in the center – the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; at the top – a circumferential inscription: РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); at the bottom – an inscription 10 РУБЛЁЎ (10 RUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE) on the copper–nickel coin; beneath – the year of issue (alloy standard shown on the silver coin on the right); and on the right – the stylized fragment of the sculptor’s studio.

Reverse

in the center – the portrait of the Belarusian sculptor Zair Azgur against the background of the patterned wall; and beneath (on the left) – a circumferential inscription: З.АЗГУР (Z. AZGUR), and the years of life: 1908–1995.
