The coins are round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coins’ edge is grained.

Obverse

at the top — the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; in the center — the sign demonstrating internal relationship between the human being and the environment, a tree trunk and the roots entwined therewith as figures of people; and circumferential inscriptions: at the top — РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC
OF BELARUS), at the bottom — 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE) on the copper-nickel coin, the year of issue (the alloy standard shown on the silver coin).

Reverse

in the center — the stylized image of the trees with their branches inter twined and the image of a bird therein; along the rim — the images of the animals: zubr, elk, wild boar, and deer; and circumferential inscriptions: БЕЛАВЕЖСКАЯ ПУШЧА * 600 ГОД ЗАПАВЕДНАМУ РЭЖЫМУ (BELAVEZHSKAYA PUSHCHA * THE 600TH ANNIVER SARY OF WILDLIFE CONSERVATION).
