The coin is rectangular in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coin’s edge is reeded.

Obverse

at the top — the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus and an inscription: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); in the center — a picture of two galloping horses symbolizing the dynamics, speed, and strength; and at the bottom, from left to right — the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES), the alloy standard, and the year of issue.

Reverse

in the center — the image of the Akhal-Teke against a Greek pattern, antique columns, and decorative composition; and in the left-hand part — an inscription: АХАЛТЭКIНСКI КОНЬ (THE AKHAL-TEKE).
