The coins are round in shape with the raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coins’ edge is ribbed.

Obverse

at the top – the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; in the center – the stylized image of the landscape: a tree, a meadow, and cranes; the inscriptions: at the top – circumferential inscription РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), at the bottom – denomination: 10 РУБЛЁЎ (TEN RUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (ONE RUBLE) on the copper–nickel one; on the right – the year of issue: 2012; on the left (on a silver coin) - alloy standard.

Reverse

on the right – the relief image of a classic of the Belarusian literature Maxim Tank sitting at the table; on the left – the stylized image of the Belarusian landscape: a meadow, a lake, and birds hovering in the sky; at the bottom – the inscriptions in two lines: МАКСIМ ТАНК (MAXIM TANK) and 1912-1995 (the years of life).
