The coins are round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The edge of the coins is reeded.

Obverse

at the top — the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus and a circumferential inscription: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); in the center – a stylized illustration to the poem of A. Kulyashou "Maya Byasedz"; on the bottom along the rim – denomination: 10 РУБЛЁЎ (10 RUBLES) (on a silver coin) and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLES) (on a copper-nickel one), on the right – the year of issue, on the left (on a silver coin) – alloy standard.

Reverse

in the center – the relief image of a photo portrait of a classic of Belarusian literature Arkadz Kulyashou, to the right – ornamental background with leaves; on the left along the rim the years of life: 1914–1978 and an inscription: АРКАДЗЬ КУЛЯШОЎ (ARKADZ KULYASHOU).
