National Bank of Belarus hosts an expert forum on payment systems

On 17-18 September the National Bank of Belarus hosted an expert forum on payment systems in the context of the Payment Systems Component of the EU Twinning Project “Strengthening the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus".

The Forum was dedicated to the discussion of the draft law “On Payment Systems and Payment Services”, prepared with input from a range of relevant government agencies and other organisations. It was attended by the Twinning Project’s short-term experts (Michal Maslowski, Piotr Maziarz and Szymon Wozniak of the National Bank of Poland, and Jurate Butkute, of the Bank of Lithuania), and representatives of the structural divisions of the National Bank of Belarus.

The participants noted the high quality of the law, and emphasized the relevance of the international experience and best practices to the drafting process. The forum resulted in a range of final recommendations on improvements to several parts of the draft.

It became the fourth meeting under the Twinning project on the subject of payment systems and payment services between NBRB staff and the short-term experts from the Central Banks of Poland and Lithuania.
