Coins are round. The rim is raised on both sides of the coin. The edge of the coin is corrugated.
Obverse
within the circular geometric ornament – the relief of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; beneath – year of issue, silver coin – fine silver content and alloy standard; inscriptions along the rim – at the top: "РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ" (REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), at the bottom: "ДВАЦЦАЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ" (TWENTY ROUBLES) on the silver coin and "АД3IН РУБЕЛЬ" (ONE ROUBLE) on the copper–nickel coin.
Reverse
In the left–hand part: the relief of a symbol of anniversary of Catholic church; in the right–hand part – 3 Cathedrals in (starting from top): Pinsk, Grodno and Minsk; in the top part – inscription along the rim: "2000–ГОДДЗЕ ХРЫСЦIЯНCTBA" (2000 YEARS OF CHRISTIANITY).
The Minsk Cathedral is a baroque architecture monument. It was built in the main square of the medieval Minsk.
The Pinsk Cathedral was founded in 1396.
The Grodno Cathedral was built in downtown Grodno by Jesuits in 1678. It is a baroque architecture monument. In 1990, Рope John Paul II awarded it the title of Basilica.
