The coin is rectangular in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coin’s edge is plain.
Obverse
in the upper left-hand corner – the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; in the center – the image of Jean-Antoine Houdon, an French sculptor and graphic artist; inscriptions: on the left – РЭСПУБЛІКА (THE REPUBLIC), at the top – БЕЛАРУСЬ (OF BELARUS); at the bottom – the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) and the year of issue to the right of it.
Reverse
in the center – the relief image of The Voltaire sculpture; in the upper left-hand corner – an inscription: ВАЛЬТЭР (THE VOLTAIRE); in the bottom right-hand corner – the alloy standard.
