The coin is rectangular in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coin’s edge is plain.
Obverse
in the upper left-hand corner – the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; in the center – the image of the cave drawing of a bull in the Lascaux cave in France; inscriptions: on the drawing – PYACORA LASCO (THE LASCAUX CAVE), to the left of the drawing – РЭСПУБЛІКА (THE REPUBLIC), at the top – БЕЛАРУСЬ (OF BELARUS); at the bottom – the year of issue and the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES).
Reverse
in the center – the relief image of the most ancient figure of The Paleolithic Venus found in Kastionki village (Voronezh region) representing the Earth Goddess; on the left – an inscription: ПАЛЕАЛІТЫЧНАЯ ВЕНЕРА. КАСЦЁНКІ (THE PALEOLITHIC VENUS. KASTIONKI); in the bottom right-hand corner – the alloy standard.
