The coins are round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coins’ edge is grained.

Obverse

at the top — the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus and the inscription: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); in the center — a fragment of an engraving showing the Sun, the Moon, and stars; on the right — the alloy standard on silver coins; and circumferential inscriptions at the bottom — the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on silver coins and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE) on copper-nickel coins and the year of issue.

Reverse

in the center — the stylized image of a ram and the inscription on the left-hand side: ARIES; at the top — the zodiac sign of the constellation inlaid with Swarovski crystals (on silver coins).
