The coins are round in shape with the raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coins’ edge is grained.


the relief image showing the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus in the circle surrounded by the geometrical ornament; in the center – the solar sign comprising an octagonal geometric pattern with the decorative elements which is symbolizing the rays of the sun; beneath – the year of issue (alloy standard shown on the silver coin); and circumferential inscriptions: at the top – РЭСПУБЛИКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS) and at the bottom – ДВАЦЦАЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ (TWENTY RUBLES) on the silver coin and АДЗІН РУБЕЛЬ (ONE RUBLE) on the copper–nickel coin.


in the center – the relief image of bliny (pancakes), an essential attribute of Maslenitsa celebrations, beneath – the clay pot filled with sour cream and a wooden spoon therein; at the top – the relief image of the sun and snowflakes symbolizing the meeting of the winter and the spring (the center of the sun on the silver coin is inlaid with synthetic crystal in yellow color); on the left and on the right – relief elements of Belarusian national ornament; and at the bottom – a circumferential inscription: МАСЛЕНІЦА (MASLENITSA).
