The Gold Reserve
The gold reserve means precious metals in the form of bank bars which are administrated by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus and form part of the State Fund of Precious Metals and Precious Stones of the Republic of Belarus.
The gold reserve serves as a reserve asset within the foreign reserves, ensuring the diversification of the reserves portfolio.
The availability of the gold reserve maintains the confidence of residents and non-residents of the Republic of Belarus in the ability of the National Bank and the Government of the Republic of Belarus to meet their financial obligations and conduct monetary policy. Moreover, precious metals can be used in crisis or emergency situations by means of their sale, exchange or use in settlements.
The gold reserve values are stored in the Central Vault of the National Bank, as well as placed on the accounts and deposits abroad.
